Before You Start

Plan for Optimal Functionality

  • How do you use the space? Do you need to fold washing there, store spare sporting equipment, or do a lot of hand washing? Think about how you need the space to function and how you will be using it on a daily basis.

  • Maximise storage by utilising floor cabinets, tall cabinets and wall cabinets. Think vertical!

  • Consider clothes hanging storage in the form of a hanging rail or electric clothes hanger.

Choose A Style

  • What style is the rest of your house? We suggest taking cues from your bathroom or kitchen design for a cohesive look throughout the home.

  • Laundries don't have to be all white. Don't be afraid to use a textured woodgrain cabinet finish or standout benchtop for maximum impact.

  • ADP Laundries are available in 4 styles - Pure Silk, Decor, Classic and Vogue. Find out more about them here.

Measure Up

Arguably one of the most important steps in the laundry renovation process, measuring your laundry can be a daunting task. To make things easier, we've made a checklist of things to measure, so that you can be rest assured that you're not forgetting anything important.

What To Measure

  1. The size of your washing machine and dryer. This one seems obvious, but it's always best to check how much room you need for these, as dimensions can vary greatly between models.

  2. Wall-to-wall. You want overall measurements of the entire room. Don't forget to allow for tiles if the walls haven't been tiled yet.

  3. Floor-to-ceiling.

  4. Size and location of doors and windows. Also note how much room they need to open.

  5. Waste and/or pipe positions.

  6. Location of existing and future power points and light fixtures.

  7. Any other room features, like radiators, roof access points, etc.

Now for the fun part!

A few things to keep in mind as you plan your new laundry layout:

  • Where are the access points for installation? Where will the cabinets and benchtop be carried in from?
